Exploring Rittenhouse: Marathon on the Square

The Coronavirus pandemic has made eating out a more difficult task. From considering each restaurant’s policies to making sure to prep gloves, handsanitizers and masks, there are a few considerations we must make these days that we didn’t before.

Nevertheless, these considerations are made a little easier when restaurants are also making the effort. As I have been walking around the city, I have made sure to pay attention to different establishments in order to identify new safe ones to try.

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon Marathon On the Square located by the Rittenhouse park. From what I could see they had a lot of good measures in place, and their meals looked very delicious.

This weekend I had the opportunity to try it out for myself.

The Meal: 3.9/5

I ended up ordering strawberry banana waffles with a side of sausage and a smoothie. My friend got the crab cake sandwich which came with a side of fries and some coleslaw.

Overall, I really enjoyed the waffles and even had a little piece to take home. The smoothie on the other hand didn’t quite hit the spot in presentation or taste. The sausage was delicious and was a nice pairing for the waffles.

My friend really enjoyed the crab cake burger and i enjoyed their fries-which were sweet potato by the way.

The Service: 5/5

The service was great. From what we could see, most servers were in masks and seemed to be considerate of measures in place to keep us safe. Although the establishment offered both indoor and outdoor seating, we opted for the outdoors due to our personal preferences. Nevertheless, we still managed to stay war with the wonderful heating apparatus set up by the restaurant.

Location:

Marathon on the Square is quite close to Rittenhouse Square and the neighborhood was easy to navigate.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal and appreciated the efforts of everyone involved. I’m excited to be in a new city and hope to keep exploring food here safely.

I’m sending everyone good vibes and much love.

Sincerely,

Belita Tracey
