Taco Review

Today’s recipe features the Beef Sirloin Taco Kit from Trader Joes. In this blog, I will divide the “recipe” into my review on 4 main things: The Packaging/ Ease of Use/ Taste/ Overall Thoughts of the product.

The Packaging:

7/10. To be honest, the only reason this kit ended up in my house was because I was drawn to the bright colors. I was in the meat section looking for a chicken/beef cut and found this as well. Aside from the color, the package not only tells you its contents, but also states how many tacos it makes on the front. On the back, there are very detailed instructions about how to “cook” the meal.

The Ease of Use:

10/10

This kit was very easy to use to make the tacos. Every component of the meal was neatly compartmentalized. As afore mentioned, there are pretty in depth details on how to make the tacos. I began with the already seasoned beef. While that was going, I chopped up the pepper. I’m not a big cheese lover so I did not touch that packet at all. I also did not want to heat my salsa so I did not open that until I was ready to use.

The taste:

6.5/10

Although it scores high in the design and ease of use departments, unfortunately the taste of this kit does not fare so well. Although above average, I did not feel like I was eating a taco when I ate these tacos. For one, there was something about the beef that leaned more towards rubber and less towards beef. The seasoning on the other hand was superb. I’m thinking that if it had been anything besides beef perhaps my rating will be a little higher because I am very specific of the beef i like. However, to highlight something I was grateful for: i was very happy that the beef was already seasoned. You literally do not need to buy anything else to make this meal.

Overall all thoughts:

7.8/10.

Overall, for a last minute meal this kit will work. If you are not looking for anything fancy, and literally just need a meal. It hits the spot and is very easy to use. The fact that it is six servings is also a huge plus as 2/day makes it handy for 3 days. To add to its value, feel free to pair it with rice or maybe even noodles? I will not recommend this for a gourmet party but definitely for a “lazy” night.

xoxo,

BT
