In summary, both of these places are lovely but can be on the pricey side. In general, travel in itself can be very expensive. Following tips from other bloggers (ie buying tickets far in advance), being intentional about money spending etc has helped. I remember back in the 8th grade when I mentioned to an adult at the time that I was interested in what I do now-connecting different cultures and their cuisine. They quickly shot the idea down and told me a student like me couldn’t afford it. Thankfully, I had an older sister whose imagination and grit inspired my own. That experience was unpleasant but it inspires me to this day to be mindful and intentional about how I pursue travel, and to help others do the same. There are so many perspectives and lifestyles out there. People with genuine stories of joy, heartache, and so much more. Pursuing medicine gives me a stronger appreciation of the life of the patient that contributes to their health. I hope that the hard work I put into pursuing this passion will inspire other young men and women out there, especially those being told not to dream.
